Ex Beatle John Lennon wrote in the 1980's one of the most popular songs
ever to hit the air waves. The song is titled "Imagine:" You know
when I wasn't saved back then I thought it was one of the most beautiful
songs ever written and arranged. But now, that I know the Lord and the Spirit
of Truth that lives inside me tells me different (John 16:13), I can't do
anything but cringe every time I hear the words of this beautiful but
deceptive melody. "Imagine there is noHeaven above
us only sky. No hell below us, it is easy if you try." Is
how this number one song of that decade begins. Now, not to throw the
great John Lennon under the bus and disturb all the Beatle and Yoko Ono fans
around the world I will try and go a little easy here. I want to first say that
I love some of the Fab Four's music. No group has ever captivated the music
industry and the world like the four chaps from Liverpool, England
did in the 1960's. And no other tandem of song writers could ever have produced
more number one hits than the great Paul and John. But, when I realized
the power and falsehoods that this song written by Lennon was doing to the
unsaved people of this world, well, I just had to dedicate a chapter of this
book to confront these troubled lyrics. To be honest with you here, to put it
plainly and as blunt as possible, these lyrics are exactly what the Devil wants
you to believe. If Satan can get the people of this world thinking that
this is it. That there is no after life and no Heaven and Hell, then he surely would
be victorious. Because the Devil works on deception, and his biggest deception
is trying to get people to believe that he doesn't exist. He wants everyone
to think that this is their final resting place after they die in the physical
sense. Now, I know this song says only imagine. But ask this question my
friends. Would God ask you to imagine these thoughts that are being suggested
in this song? Did Jesus ever walk a round on the earth and tell people to
imagine that there was no after life? Did Christ ever say imagine that what I
am going to do on that wooden Cross over there at Calvary
is some kind of prank or joke? And while there driving those sharp nails
through my hands and feet and beating my face until it was beyond all
recognition. Well, just imagine I am doing this so you could contemplate or
ponder that there is no after life and eternity. While were at it, let us write
a song that says imagine there is no sun, no clouds, no baldness, no cows, no
television, no streets. Oh we can't do that. Why? Because we can see those
things, they are right in front of us almost everyday. You get my point here my
friends! I mean why would anyone ever want to imagine that there is no Heaven?
I can see someone not wanting to imagine there to be real Hell. Who wants
to think of a Lake
of Fire? Where there is
eternal gnashing of teeth and screaming all day long because people are being
tormented. But, no Heaven? No hope of seeing a loved one who has passed away in
Christ? This is it, we will never see them again! Who would want to imagine
that unbearable thought? In the chapter ( Revelations 20:10) in the Bible. God
tells you that the Devil and his Angels will be tormented day and night forever
for eternity. The Lake of fire was prepared
for them. Until that time of eternal judgment comes to fruition Satan
wants to deceive everybody he can that giving your life to Jesus isn't
important while you are here on earth. The bottom line is that he wants to take
you with him. You have a choice my friends. You can become saved and accept
Christ’s invitation for the gift of salvation, and accept his crucifixion and
resurrection as an atonement for all your sins and live for eternity with God.
Or you can die in your sins and to put it plainly roast in Hell. Now, I write
this out of love. That is why we write this book and have this ministry. To
lead people to salvation and the power of the great Lord Jesus Christ. If you
have not said the sinners prayer yet and you believe that Jesus
Christ died for your sins on the Cross please pray this prayer today.
Dear Father In Heaven , today at this moment I accept the free
gift of salvation. I accept that Jesus Christ died on the Cross so that I could
be forgiven for all my sins. I accept his precious blood as an atonement for
all my sins past, present and future. Please God send your Spirit into my
heart. I am now a new creation in Christ. Thank you for saving me God. In
Jesus Name. I recommend strongly that you purchase an NIV, NASB, or
NKJV Bible and join a spirit filled church. And learn about the Word of God.
Remember the Holy Bible is the only thing on earth that is 100 percent true.
Learn it, study it and make it your life. The Bible's teachings will help you
learn about the character of one and only True God. Also remember there is only
one true God. The Father in Heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Trinity. I would like to close this chapter with this one thought. I
am sure John Lennon would never have written the lyrics of this song after he
was tragically killed in New York City
over 30 years ago. When I walked through Strawberry Fields in Central
Park about ten years ago, I had this thought of how this song
would of went if Lennon had the chance to come back from the dead. It went
something like this. " Imagine there is no Heaven, there is
nothing more farther from the truth. Don't believe for a second that there is
only sky. And please do not imagine there is no Hell, because there is, and
that is no lie." Also maybe a couple of He Loves you yea, yea, yea might
be thrown in there. Maybe not as beautiful as Lennon wrote back
in 1980's. But something to think about huh? Just imagine, Just imagine if you
don't give your life to Christ. No, I just can't, I just can't do that.
Give your life today to Christ and have your name written in the Lamb's Book of
Life before it is to late my friends. And if you have already have a relationship with God. Please tell
others of your choice to be Born Again. Imagine if all of us Christians told
one person a day about the power of God and the Truth of the Bible. Imagine;
just imagine how that could effect eternity. God would have to add many more
rooms in his kingdom! Now that is a great thought to think about and
imagine. God Bless you on your journey with Christ. Al
